Creating an Exemplar
When introducing a product-based task to students, it is often a good idea to have an exemplar to show them so they have an idea of what the finished product will look like. This can also serve to motivate the students.
Now that you've had a chance to explore Book Creator, it's time to create an exemplar!
brainstorm
Working with a partner or in a small group, come up with an idea of how you would like to use Book Creator in your classroom. For example, will you have students record their science experiment findings or will they write and illustrate fairy tales? Use the list of products you generated earlier as a starting point in making your plan.
Also, you may wish to consider what resources you will need before you begin creating your exemplar. For example, you may wish to collect the following before you begin:
- Images (photos, drawings)
- Video
- Music
- Text
activity
Working with a partner, your task is to create an exemplar using Book Creator of what a finished product may look like for the chosen task you will give to your class. For example, if you plan to have your students use Book Creator to write and illustrate fairy tales, then create an exemplar of a finished fairy tale. You may use other apps to help capture or create the images, video, text, and audio that you will use for this task.
